Annecto Legal – Frequently Asked Questions
Annecto Legal – Frequently Asked Questions
1. What does Annecto Legal do?
Annecto Legal is a specialist litigation funding and legal expenses insurance broker. We help individuals, businesses and their legal teams access the right funding and insurance options to manage the cost and risk of pursuing or defending commercial disputes. We are not solicitors; we focus solely on securing the financial solutions your case needs.
2. Do you provide legal advice or represent clients in court?
No. Annecto Legal does not provide legal advice or act as solicitors. Instead, we work alongside you and your chosen legal team to source suitable funders, insurers and alternative fee arrangements. If you do not yet have solicitors in place, we can introduce your enquiry to independent law firms within our network for you to consider.
3. What types of cases can you help with?
We support a wide range of commercial disputes, including:
• Insolvency-related claims
• Breach of contract
• Professional negligence
• Financial and banking disputes
• Fraud and misrepresentation
• Shareholder, partnership and director disputes
• Intellectual property disputes
• International arbitration
Most cases we assist involve a claim value of £100,000 or more.
4. How does the funding process work?
We review your case with your legal team, assess its suitability for funding or insurance, and match you with appropriate providers from our extensive network of commercial funders and insurers. We help you compare terms, negotiate offers, and secure the most appropriate arrangement for your circumstances.
5. Are there any upfront costs to use your service?
Typically, no. Our brokering fees are usually covered by the funder or insurer. Any costs associated with a final funding or insurance product will be clearly explained upfront, so you can make an informed decision.
6. What funding options are available?
Depending on your case, we can help arrange:
• Third-Party Litigation Funding – covering solicitor fees, counsel, experts and disbursements.
• After-the-Event (ATE) Insurance – protecting you against the risk of paying your opponent’s costs.
• Portfolio and law firm funding – for firms handling multiple cases.
• Alternative fee structures – including fixed fees, staged fees and risk-sharing arrangements where appropriate.
7. What are the benefits of using third-party funding?
Litigation funding can:
• Remove the need to pay large legal fees upfront
• Transfer much of the financial risk away from your business
• Improve cash flow and budgeting predictability
• Strengthen your negotiating position during settlement discussions
• Enable access to a high-quality legal team and expert evidence
8. Will litigation funding reduce my compensation?
Funding is usually repaid from damages if the case succeeds, so the funder will take an agreed portion of the recovery. Your legal team and Annecto Legal will help you weigh the cost of funding against the benefits of reducing risk and conserving cash flow.
9. How long does it take to secure funding or insurance?
The timeline varies depending on the complexity of the case, but many funding and insurance arrangements can be secured within days or weeks. Early engagement helps speed up the process.
10. Can you help me find a solicitor?
Yes. If you do not currently have a solicitor, we can pass your enquiry to independent law firms within our network for you to consider. These firms are entirely separate from Annecto Legal, and you are free to choose any solicitor you prefer. Our role is simply to make introductions so you can quickly speak to the right legal specialists for your type of commercial dispute.
11. Can you help if I already have solicitors?
Yes. We frequently work with clients who already have a legal team in place. We collaborate with your solicitors to prepare the necessary information for funders and insurers and to secure the most suitable terms.
12. Do you only work with large companies?
No. We work with businesses of all sizes, from SMEs and start-ups to large organisations, provided the claim meets the general funding thresholds.
